About the Internship
Chevron Canada actively seeks out students for its internship program.
This program is designed to expose students to the complexities of blending the oil and gas industry with data science, offering valuable practical work experience.
Application Process
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Petroleum Engineering Intern in Calgary, Alberta until Monday, February 14, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Educational Qualifications:
* Pursuing Bachelor’s degree or Graduate Program in Petroleum, Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Civil Engineering disciplines will be considered.
* Strong communication, leadership, teamwork and problem solving skills.
* Computer programming is an asset (VBA, Python, R)
* Strong computer application knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Demonstrated high school performance.
* Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
* Previous oil and gas related internship experience is an asset.
* Knowledge of tree model data analysis, Gaussian processes and neural networks is appreciated but not required.
* Strong work ethic with internal drive to succeed.
Internship Duration
This internship opportunity has a targeted duration of (8-16) months, beginning in May 2022.
Internship Responsibilities
The duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:
*** Work in a multidisciplinary team to quantify reservoir uncertainties, monitor competitor activity and conduct research to identify trends or opportunities for performance improvement.
*** Analyze petroleum engineering issues through supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
*** System design and machine learning pipeline architecture for proper workflow characterization. Support code rollout to automate and improve the quality of tank evaluations.
*** Lead an analytical-based work project, combining engineering and data science principles to address a new issue.
*** Analyze newly drilled and completed wells once in production to evaluate completion effectiveness and well interference effects.
*** Support other oil engineers and earth scientists within the group for special applications and projects.
*** Actively participate as a partner with the Engineering and Operations teams to ensure personal and process security, environment, reliability, regulatory compliance and business objectives..
