Open Call – EMAP Residencies programme 2023
The European Media Art Platform (EMAP) announces an open call for residences for 2023. With the support of the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, and for the years 2022-2024, EMAP expands its residency program for artists, collectives or other artistic collaborations working in the fields of digital art, media art, and bio-art to residencies in 16 countries.
Residency
European artists, or collectives can apply with a project proposal for a residency of two months within March to November 2023. The artists will be collaborating with an artist of their choice or an artist local to the host institution.

Terms
The residency includes:
- an invitation to the kick-off conference and network meeting in Athens 8th – 9th of March 2023
- a grant of 4 000 € including subsistence costs
- a grant of 2 000 € for collaborating artist(s)
- production budget of 4 000 €
- free accommodation, travel expenses up to 1 000 €, and free access to technical facilities and/or media labs of the host institution
- a professional presentation and the possibility to participate in exhibition tours at our members’ festivals or exhibitions in 2023-2024, plus the possibility to get exhibited by EMAP partner institutions.
Application
Applications deadline is November 30th, 2022.
Applications must include:
- CV
- (audio)-visual documentation of previous work
- a preliminary plan and presentation of the proposed project to be developed within the EMAP Residencies programme
Applicants must be EU citizens or taxpayers in an EU member country.
The residency and project realization will take place in the form of collaboration. Applicants are expected to include a proposal for a collaboration in their application. The residency is also intended for emerging artists, regardless of age. Undergraduate and Master students are not eligible applicants.
HOW TO APPLY
- In order to apply for an EMAP residency online, you need to register with this website.
- If you have not yet registered, you can do so by following the “Create new account” link in the “User Login” block.
- Once you have completed registration, you will be assigned a personal log-in account, through which you can access the online application form.
- Your application is stored online in the ‘My submissions’ section of your account, where it is available for you to edit any time up until the deadline (after that the section of the website will be closed).
- Please note that it is permissible to submit more than one application via your personal log-in.
